A stunning range of gifts reflecting the beauty of Tropical North Queensland is now available at the Mossman Gorge Centre. Whether you are looking for your own unique artwork or a design that has been used to create a practical gift, there is something to suit all budgets and tastes at the Centre’s Art Gallery & Gift Shop, which showcases the work of Kuku Yalanji artists of the Daintree region.
Fine art, crafts, jewelry, clothing, giftware, luxury goods, souvenirs and Indigenous artefacts are on offer – all inspired by the surrounding country, capturing the spirit of the rainforest, the wisdom of the rivers, the harvest from the ocean and the cherished cultural stories.
The Art Gallery purchases works directly from the artists, in turn supporting their art practice and investing in the local artistic community, and offers mentoring for new artists who are starting their creative journey.
Artists are also invited to take part in retail merchandising projects which use their designs to produce items with a contemporary aesthetic, from coffee cups and cushion covers to clothing and jewelry. The artists receive royalty payments for their designs, whilst retaining the copyright to their work. This commercial approach benefits the local artistic community, sustaining further art practice, as well as contributing to the business success of Mossman Gorge Centre as a whole.
