Tjintu ‘sun’ in local Pitjantjatjara, the perfect name for a solar powered field located in what is considered one of the world’s best solar energy regions. The abundance of sunshine and ample availability of land make this the perfect location for a solar energy plant to supplement Yulara and Ayers Rock Resort’s current electricity supply.
The 1.8MW solar system, is a photovoltaic (PV) system that is spread across five separate locations around Ayers Rock Resort. The entire array consists of 5,770 modules and will produce around 15% of the Resort’s average energy needs, equivalent to the energy consumption of around 150 average Australian households. At its peak during the ‘sunniest’ part of the day the system will be capable of generating up to 45% of the Resort’s peak energy use.
Tjintu demonstrates Voyages’ commitment to sustainability through efficiently using resources such as the sun rather than fossil fuels, minimising waste and pollution.
